Yolkling is a virtual pet that grows closer to you when you take care of yourself in real life. Your steps, sleep, and time away from your phone feed your yolk, and you collect new ones and dress yours up. free to play, all of it. no ads, and the only currency is Yolks, which you earn by showing up for yourself. you cannot buy Yolks on their own, at any price, and there is no gacha and no loot box anywhere in the app. hatch your yolk is one of a kind. pick its colour and its look, watch it hatch, and it is yours. there are 32 species to find in the collection today, drawn from a hand illustrated taxonomy of over 200 across four families, with more of them opening up over time. grow by living connect Apple Health if you want to, and your real days reach your yolk. steps and sleep build its trust in you, slowly, over weeks, until it starts waving when you open the app and celebrating when you do well. it is completely optional. the app works fully without Health access, and your steps and sleep never leave your device. put the phone down start a focus session when you want time away from the screen. your yolk rests and glows while you are gone, a Live Activity keeps you company on the lock screen, and you earn Yolks when you finish. this is the honest version of screen time: you choose to step away, and your yolk is happier for it. check in, earn, collect a gentle daily check-in asks how you are and sets your yolk's mood. earn Yolks from checking in and from focus sessions, then spend them in the shop and closet on hats, glasses, scarves, rare colours, and decor for your yolk's room. no randomness. you buy the exact thing you want. friends, done kindly add friends with a share code or a QR scan, let their yolks visit yours, and send postcards back and forth. postcards are written from a set list of kind phrases, never free text. once a day your yolk may also wander to a stranger's room and bring something home, and you can share your own room publicly if you want to. block and report are on every profile. no feeds, no follower counts, no likes. honest by design no ads. no tracking. no analytics. your steps, your sleep and your screen time stay on your device and are never uploaded. your creature, your collection and your friends are backed up to our server so they survive a new phone. there is a home-screen widget, and a real account you own, with the controls to match, including deleting it from inside the app. if you want to support it there is one optional subscription, Yolkling Plus. it adds a supporter glow on your yolk and 400 Yolks a month, and that is all it does. every species, every hat, every feature is reachable without it. the only thing you cannot earn is the glow, which is the point of it: it says you chose to keep this going. made by one person who wanted a pet that roots for the real you.
