About this app
SHIFT is a party game for people who are already in the same room. Everyone sits at the same table, each with their own iPhone. One person creates a room, the others join with a four-letter code, and the game runs on the phones you already brought. No account to create, no server, no internet connection. HOW A ROUND WORKS A theme comes up — "How scary is this?", scaled from "totally fine" to "terrifying". You get a secret number from 1 to 100 that nobody else can see. You don't say the number. You write an example at that intensity: a 9 might be "finding a hair in your food", an 88 might be "public speaking with no slides". Then the table does the hard part. Everyone's answers go up on screen, and the group has to arrange them from lowest to highest — out loud, arguing, second-guessing each other. Nobody shows a number. When you're ready, the reveal goes one card at a time, in the order you placed them. Somewhere in that line a number contradicts the one above it, and that is the moment the table finds out where it went wrong. THREE MODES Classic — a secret number from 1 to 100, and a table that has to put everyone in order. Impostor — one player receives no theme at all. They have to blend in with an answer that sounds plausible, and the table votes before the reveal. Zone Out — five named zones instead of a scale, and zones can repeat. Two people in the same zone is not an error, which is exactly what makes it hard. BUILT FOR A REAL TABLE No countdown timers, in any phase. The group plays at its own pace and the Host taps to move things along. No chat and no voice, because everyone is already talking. Music plays on the Host's phone only — eight phones starting the same track a few hundred milliseconds apart is noise, not a soundtrack. Sound effects play on every phone, because an effect answers the tap you just made. Up to 8 players in a room. Free rooms seat 6. Eight hand-drawn mascots, one per seat, so everyone can see who is who across the table. THEMES AND CUSTOM ROUNDS A bank of themes across several categories, plus custom themes — somebody at the table writes the prompt for the round instead of drawing one from the bank. COSMETICS Board skins change the table everyone is playing on. Nothing you can buy changes the rules or gives anyone an advantage.
