About this app
RetroPals is a privacy-first, AI-assisted wellbeing companion for people who've bounced off streak-and-points habit apps. It swaps daily metric pressure for a calm weekly reflection with an optional customisable AI coach, grounded in real motivational science and built privacy-first (local data, optional sync, Zero Data Retention AI). Born from Behavioural Science research and Human Centred Design, it's created to add genuine value and stay sustainable, not to gamify your self-care or monetise your inner life. How it works: 1. Pick and personalise a companion - Pick a starter wellbeing companion/ coach, then customise it's name, personality, response style, tone and visual appearance. You can optionally equip it with your favourite flagship AI model such as Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT. Your data stays in the app, helping it get to know you better over time. 2. Set a direction, not just a destination - Create an aspiration that you can step into ("be a confident writer", "live an active lifestyle") and add measurable **goals** and small recurring weekly **habits**, both the ones you're building and the ones you'd like to cut back on. 3. Reflect weekly. - A gentle, multi-step check-in: rate eight wellbeing dimensions, optionally note feelings and motivation/stress, write a few free notes, and attach context (sleep, steps, exercise, weather) if you like. 4. Get help when you want it. - On completion, your companion turns the week into a personalised reflection. Reflection is the core loop; the AI is optional assistance, never a requirement, you can turn AI features off entirely and the app still works. 5. Check in on goals. - Do an AI-guided or manual **motivation check-in** grounded in real behavioural science. It quietly captures where you are and keeps momentum going, no nagging, no broken-streak shame. 6. See patterns over time. - The Insights tab visualises trends across weeks and months (a wellbeing radar, emotions, motivation vs. stress) so you build self-awareness, not metric obsession. Every step is skippable. Reminders are configurable and gentle. You decide the cadence, the goals, and what "progress" even means.
