About this app
Echo Chess is chess you can play without seeing the board — or without touching it. Most chess apps treat accessibility as an afterthought. Echo Chess starts there. Say your move and it is played. Your opponent's reply is announced the moment it happens. Nothing depends on dragging, on small targets, or on seeing the screen. PLAY BY VOICE, HANDS-FREE - Speak moves naturally: "knight f3", "e4", "castle kingside", "bishop takes c6" - Use the phonetic alphabet if you prefer: "echo four", "knight foxtrot three" - Listening starts on its own — no button to hold or press - Ask "where is my queen?", "what was the last move?" or "describe the position" - Say "take that back" to undo while you are learning - The app only asks you to confirm a move when it is unsure what you said BUILT FOR SCREEN READERS AND EVERY KIND OF HAND - Every square is a real control, labelled and reachable with TalkBack - Tap to select, tap to move — no dragging, ever - Large controls throughout, for players with limited dexterity or a tremor A REAL OPPONENT - Four levels, from a gentle beginner to the Stockfish chess engine at its highest skill setting - Play as White or Black GET BETTER - Daily puzzles with spoken hints - AI game reviews that explain your mistakes in plain language FREE, WITH OPTIONAL PRO Everything is free to play, with a daily allowance of puzzles and reviews. Pro removes the limits. You can also unlock Pro time by choosing to watch an ad — ads never interrupt a game and are only shown when you ask for one. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no sign-up, and we never ask about disability or health. Voice recognition and AI features need an internet connection; games against the computer work offline. Echo Chess uses Stockfish, free software licensed under the GNU GPL v3.
