About this app
DEVELOP is an assistant whose brain runs on your own device. The conversation with the model happens on your phone — no remote server, no monthly fee, no cost per message. Switch the internet off and the Brain still answers. Day to day: you chat with the Brain, attach documents to ask about them, use the online features when you need them, and — with the DEVELOP hardware kit — connect sensors on your own network. THE BRAIN, ON YOUR DEVICE (works offline) Chat with a model that runs on your phone. Have it summarise, translate, rephrase or outline text you write or paste. The Brain holds a conversation — it does not run automatic commands like "monitor and alert me if…". Add your own documents: .md or .txt files are indexed on the device, and the Brain answers from them, citing the source and saying honestly when it finds nothing. On the phone this search works by keyword, and your documents never leave the device. FEATURES THAT REACH INTO THE WORLD These need an internet connection, and the app says so each time: • Professor — a subject tutor that recognises the topic and related fields. • World alerts — earthquakes (USGS), disasters (GDACS, CC BY 4.0) and wildfires (NASA FIRMS), on a list and a map. Data loads when you open the page; no notifications are sent on their own. • Web tasks — ask the Brain in the chat to look something up on a website; it browses in the background and reports the answer and the steps it took, in the chat (no browser window opens). It asks before irreversible actions, blocks card, IBAN and OTP fields, and stops at logins and CAPTCHAs. • Maps — your position on a real map (needs location permission). These are cited data sources, not endorsements. VOICE AND VISION Dictate with the microphone and have answers read aloud; speech recognition uses your phone's own system, which on most Android devices sends the audio to Google — if you prefer, type instead. Vision is a helper you turn on for a session: it looks through the camera while it is active. It does not run in the background on standing rules. SENSORS ON YOUR NETWORK With the DEVELOP hardware kit you connect sensors and cameras on your own Wi-Fi. The phone and the devices talk directly, no cloud in between, and their readings reach the phone over the local network — it works even if your internet is down. You can ask the Brain what a connected camera shows. The phone's own camera and microphone work without the kit; external sensors and cameras need it. Rules that act on their own are still in the works — today the Brain answers when you ask, it does not watch or alert by itself. YOUR APPS, YOUR KEYS (the Hub) The in-app Hub connects your own apps — Make, Airtable, Email — with your own keys, driven from the chat; credentials stay on your device. Sensors or apps, your data stays yours. 22 LANGUAGES — switch anytime. WHAT YOU NEED An Android phone with at least 6 GB of RAM and about 4 GB of free storage. The first launch downloads the model once — about 2.6 GB, so do it on Wi-Fi. Below that the app warns you but lets you try. PRICE The app is free and stays free. There is one optional purchase: a contribution to whoever develops DEVELOP. It unlocks nothing and changes nothing — the purchase screen says so in those words. YOUR PRIVACY Conversations, images and documents stay on the device. No registration, no account, no advertising, no tracking of your name, email or location. One exception, not something you switch on: at startup the app registers an anonymous identifier with the payment provider, so a contribution can be recognised as yours. That service never receives your conversations, files or name. Everything else is in the privacy policy and concerns only the connected features above.
