Chalk is a small collection of logic puzzles and board games: sudoku, nonograms, slitherlink, shikaku and number paths, with four board games for two. No accounts, no sign up, no timers pushing you along. Open it and play. NINE GAMES, 2643 PUZZLES Sudoku. 412 puzzles across 4x4, 6x6 and the full 9x9, rated easy to expert. Pencil marks are built in, and placing a number tidies it out of every square it rules out. Nonograms, the puzzle also called picross, griddlers or hanjie. 125 picture puzzles, 5x5 up to 15x15. The numbers say how the filled squares are grouped, and a picture comes out of it. Slitherlink, sometimes called loop the loop or fences. 125 loop puzzles, 5x5 up to 10x10. Draw one closed loop so that every number has exactly that many lines around it. Stitch. 515 number path puzzles. Draw one line from 1 to the last number, passing through every square exactly once. Boards run from a gentle 3x3 up to a proper 8x8. Shikaku, the Japanese rectangle puzzle. 1466 puzzles, 4x4 up to 10x10. Cut the grid into rectangles, one number in each, where the number says how many squares that patch covers. Tic Tac Toe (noughts and crosses), Four in a Row (connect four), Dots and Boxes and Hex. Four board games for two people, and you decide who the second seat belongs to. TWO PHONES, NO INTERNET Play someone sitting next to you on their own phone. Chalk finds the other phone over wireless, or sends the moves as a short chirp through the speaker, which works between any two phones with no account, no pairing code and no connection of any kind. Or pass one phone between you. Or play Chalk itself, at Easy, Fair or Ruthless. Who opens is a setting rather than a rule: you, Chalk, or take turns, where the loser of the last round starts the next. EVERY PUZZLE IS CHECKED All 2643 puzzles were generated and then verified by computer to have exactly one solution. No guessing, no dead ends, no puzzle that turns out to be impossible halfway through. BUILT TO BE CALM Two looks: bright marks on a dark board, or cream and sand. Both follow your phone's light and dark setting. Hide the clock if timing feels like pressure. Turn off the buzz if you would rather it stayed quiet. Keep your favourites at the top of the list. Every puzzle remembers your best time and picks up exactly where you left off, down to the clock. Every board game keeps the running score.
